[2.July.2020] Perhaps the possibility of probability

American humourist and cartoonist James Thurber (1894 - 1961) once wrote that “A pinch of probability is worth a pound of perhaps” and that cannot be truer.

This month we have decided to look at the probability in popular movies and unveil Mathcad functionality that can help you with your Probability Distribution calculations.

Probability is the branch of mathematics concerning numerical descriptions of how likely an event is to occur or how likely it is that a proposition is true.

For example, the probability of flipping a coin and it being heads is ½, because there is 1 way of getting a head and the total number of possible outcomes is 2 (a head or tail).

Arranged are the movie scenes from the most to the least probable.

½ - Armageddon
1/12 – Top Gun
1/23 – Casino Royale
1/3720 - Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back
1/1000000 – Dumb and Dumber

And here are some Mathcad functions related to Probability Distributions:
Normal Distribution
Chi-Squared Distribution
Binomial Distribution
Poisson Distribution
Geometric Distribution
